Wootten offers a tailored footwear service for people with an orthotic or prosthetic requirement. Wootten is a registered provider to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (existing customers only). We work closely with orthotists, prosthetists and podiatrists and support many of Melbourne’s public hospitals. If mobility is a problem for you, you can engage Wootten’s orthopaedic, orthotic and prosthetic footwear service knowing you’ll get the very best of modern cordwaining practice combined with the millennia-old understanding that comfort is everything. That means you’ll get a shoe that fits you both physically and aesthetically.
Historians reckon footwear — in one form or another — has been around for as many as 15,000 years. Where once we wrapped our feet in the hide of a cow, today we put a bit more time into covering up our primary walking tools. Despite this, the age-old principles of protection and comfort remains the same. In essence, shoes are there to make getting around — be it up a rocky hillface to hunt goats, or down the street to buy milk — easier.
Timeframes for orthopaedic footwear are on average 4-6 months, with pricing falling on average between $1200-$1600 for shoes, $1400-$2000 for boots, but can be more in the range of $1700-$2200 for more complex orthopaedic fits and/or cast measurements.
