Gordon Heritage Boot Cambridge Toe
The Story: A boot fit for any dress occasion
Details:
This fully lined Derby boot is made using calf, yearling, kangaroo or bovine leather. It is made on our dress shoe last, the Cambridge, with it's almond profile, to give a more refined look.
The Gordon Heritage Boot collection opens up the world of options when it comes to designing your perfect boot. It is the epitome of customisation, where you can choose everything from sole construction and material, a very broad range of upper colours (more swatches available in store), size of eyelets or whether opting for speed hooks, topline details, etc. There are literally over a billion possible combinations when it comes to choices for our Gordon boot. Pictures shown on the website are used to either help you with aesthetic ideas over what you might or might not like before making your own choice. You may see other examples on our Instagram @wootten_ that may not be featured here also.
Style: Derby boot
Upper: Choose between bovine, yearling, kangaroo and calf
Topline: The topline is the detail along the top edge of the boot from the backstrap all the way down past the eyelets to where the quarters end. Raw is our preference as it is a more durable method of construction. Bound involves a thin layer of leather binding folded and stitched into the topline. Over time this bound edge is less strong than just the durable thickness of the quarters at the edge. The bound edge may be considered to be dressier, so you might see it more often on our Cambridge or Stanley toe examples.
Eyelets & Hooks: Choose small or large eyelets and whether you want speed Hooks or not. Please note our Paracord Boot Laces will only fit through the large eyelets. Our preference is to do the Gordon boot in the Gordon toe with the large antique brass eyelets as they offset the leather and our brass aglet tipped shoelaces nicely.
Prices will vary depending on leather chosen and sole. Yearling and bovine are our preferred choices for regular wear. Kangaroo leather has more texture and markings, the skin is strong, but it’s also very thin and fine in thickness. Being so fine it can be prone to drying out, which for boots, is not ideal, so we do consider it a high maintenance option. Yearling has similar body to bovine leather, but has a smoother grain and a more polished finish. It is also more readily dyed. Baby calf leather is like the cashmere of leather and the choice for high gloss potential, formal occasions and quite infrequent wear. Bovine is a great choice for regular wear.
Sole: 5mm Italian oak tanned, hand waxed, Blake stitched or McKay Welt (Blake Rapid) leather sole. Stacked leather heel, Vibram top piece.
Please select the laces you're after with your boots in the Notes section of the order at Checkout.
Please note if adding a 3mm padded insert, an extra 3mm of volume is lasted around the size of the boot you choose. This padding is removeable. So if choosing this option and removing the padding, it effectively gives you 3mm of extra volume through the whole boot. This is useful when someone has a wider ball measurement but doesn't want to go up in length. Alternatively when left inside, it gives you 3mm of padding when inside the boot without changing the standard size of what you've selected.
Please note that all our footwear is made-to-order. Lead times can be found in our footer below for leather goods and footwear.
